Peter Button
Head IT Development

Peter joined Progressive Capital Partners in June 2023 with 20 years of experience in asset management, hedge funds and trading. Before that he programmed data-analysis and IT-automation tools for several larger companies.

He started his career during his studies as a journalist for financial newspapers where he mainly covered derivatives and structured products. After his studies he took on a role in investment writing at Credit Suisse. He moved on to a long/short equity hedge fund where he traded a book of primarily short positions and built up a software for risk monitoring.

Later he co-managed two fund-of-hedge-fund portfolios at GL Funds, where he again spent a lot of time automating reporting and building a quantitative risk management solution for the firm. He was fascinated by the more complex and algorithmic hedge funds and moved his career in this direction when he became a risk manager at IMC Trading, one of the big global proprietary trading firms and market makers. He quickly progressed his career there, took over trading compliance and built software for detecting market abuse in the high-frequency trading world. After a sabbatical he joined a startup where he programmed a wealth management robot.

Peter holds a Masters’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Zurich. He is a CFA charterholder.
